If you are registered with us and your pet or animal needs urgent veterinary attention, don't wait — call us straight away. Our team will talk you through what to do next and arrange the fastest route to treatment, whether that's an immediate appointment or directing you to our on-duty emergency vet when outside normal hours.
Is this an emergency?
For pets (dogs, cats, small animals):
- Difficulty breathing or choking
- Collapse or inability to stand
- Severe bleeding that won't stop
- Suspected poisoning (including eating something toxic)
- Repeated vomiting or inability to keep fluids down
- Seizures
- Bloated, hard, or painful abdomen
- Serious trauma (hit by a car, a fall, a significant wound)
- Straining to urinate with no results (especially in male cats — this can be life-threatening within hours)
For farm animals and equine:
- Signs of colic in horses (rolling, pawing, distress, lack of appetite)
- Calving, or lambing difficulties
- Bloat
- Severe lameness or inability to bear weight
- Prolapse
- Significant wounds or blood loss
What happens when you call
- You'll speak to a member of our team, who will ask a few quick questions to understand what's happening.
- We'll advise you on immediate next steps — this might mean coming straight to the clinic, or simple first-aid guidance while help is on the way.
- You'll be seen by a vet as quickly as possible, with continuity of care since we already hold your animal's history.
Out-of-hours emergency care
Our emergency service is available to registered clients only outside normal opening hours. Call our main clinic number and follow the instructions to reach the on-duty vet.
